Rangers 2 Kilmarnock 0
Rangers opened up a seven-point gap at the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League - but it took them over an hour to wear down Kilmarnock's stubborn resistance. The home side dominated the first-half but struggled to make the breakthrough, with Carlos Bocanegra, Nikica Jelavic and Maurice Edu all seeing efforts sail wide of the target. With Stevie Naismith missing through suspension, Rangers lacked penetration but two goals in three minutes halfway through the second-half put them in control. First Nikica Jelavic finished clinically from a well-worked Steven Davis free-kick and although Kilmarnock came close to an immediate equaliser when Allan McGregor flapped at a corner and Gary Harkins headed against the bar, Rangers clinched it in their next attack. Gregg Wylde played a one-two with Edu before rifling the ball home from six yards.
