Inverness Caledonian Thistle 3 Celtic 2
Celtic missed the chance to go top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League when they lost their game in hand at Inverness. In a breezy opening, the home side went ahead after seven minutes when Shane Sutherland's cross was flicked on by Adam Rooney and the ball went in off Charlie Mulgrew. However Celtic levelled two minutes later when Kris Commons was allowed to advance and drive in a left-footer. After the interval the home side stunned Celtic. First Grant Munro gathered Dan Majstorovic's header and smashed a left-foot drive into the corner of the net and eight minutes after the re-start the central defender almost added a third when he headed a corner wide moments later. Celtic brought on Daryl Murphy for Anthony Stokes but they fell further behind when Nick Ross gathered Majstorovic's weak defensive header and his lob was lashed in by Sutherland. Commons and Beram Kayal both forced good saves from Esson as Celtic tried to get back into the game but both Rooney and Ross could've added goals for Caley Thistle with both being denied by Fraser Forster. Celtic were awarded a penalty in stoppage time after Ross Tokely's foul on Shaun Maloney and Kris Commons drove it in - but there was to be no dramatic equaliser. A further problem on a bad night for Celtic was that Kayal had to be replaced after having his shoulder strapped up.
