Rangers 2 St Mirren 1
Rangers returned to the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League but were pushed all the way by Saints at Ibrox. Kyle Lafferty had the ball in the net early on but it was disallowed for offside. The home side went ahead soon after however when Lafferty's shot from Steven Davis' cross was saved by Paul Gallacher but Sasa Papac scored from the rebound. However St Mirren levelled five minutes later when Jure Travner found Aaron Mooy on the flank and the Australian's cross was thumped into the net by Darren McGregor's superb volley. Saints almost went in front when Mooy's free-kick was scrambled round the post by Allan McGregor. John Potter pulled Nikica Jelavic down seven minutes after the break and Steven Whittaker scored from the spot. The narrow margin of Rangers' lead ensured an edgy close to the game but although Gareth Wardlaw fired wide in injury-time, Rangers hung on for victory and moved a point ahead of Celtic at the top.
Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1 Hearts 1
Hearts could manage no more than a point against ten-man Caley Thistle. The home side went ahead when Adam Rooney's chip found Aaron Doran who volleyed past Jamie MacDonald after six minutes. MacDonald's save from Rooney prevented the home side going two up and Hearts survived a penalty claim when Richie Foran went down under Ian Black's challenge. Stuart Duff cleared Rudi Skacel's volley off the home side's goalline before Hearts equalised early in the second-half when Suso Santana's cut-back was stroked home by Stephen Elliott. Home 'keeper Ryan Esson saved well from Ryan Stevenson, then Andy Webster cleared off the line from Foran and Ross Tokely did the same from Stevenson. However Tokely was sent packing when he picked up a second yellow card for clipping David Templeton's heels.
Hibernian 1 Hamilton Academical 2 (Sunday)
Bottom club Hamilton shocked Hibs with victory at Easter Road. Nigel Hasselbaink was the architect of Accies' opener when he eluded Francis Dickoh and Paul Hanlon before setting James Chambers up for an easy finish. Hamilton then went further ahead in bizarre circumstances when Akpo Sodje's attempt to clear Ali Crawford's free-kick rebounded off Liam Miller past Mark Brown in the home goal. Sean Murdoch - a replacement for Accies 'keeper Tomas Cerny, who took ill before the match - saved well from Dickoh as Hibs attempted to fight back. Although Sodje pulled one back when he ran on to Callum Booth's long ball to beat Murdoch, and sub Grant Gillespie had to clear off the line from the goalscorer, Accies hung on for their third win of the season. Accies remain nine points behind second-bottom St Mirren but the win ensures they retain some faint survival hopes.
