St Johnstone 0 Rangers 2
Rangers moved top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League table with a comfortable victory at Perth.  The champions showed they had no hangover from the weekend defeat by Dundee United with goals from Kyle Lafferty and Stevie Naismith.  Rangers were fortunate to escape an early penalty claim when Gregg Wylde tripped Danny Grainger but they went ahead after 19 minutes when Grainger's poor headed back pass was seized upon by Lafferty who rounded goalkeeper Peter Enckleman before scoring.  Allan McGregor saved well from Murray Davidson before Naismith sealed the victory seven minutes from time when he took Michael Duberry's defensive header in his stride and played a one-two with Nikica Jelavic before drilling the ball low into the net.  Jelavic then drove against the bar as Rangers finished the stronger side. Worryingly for St Johnstone however no Saints player has scored a goal in the league since March 1st.
