Hibernian 2 Hearts 2 (Sunday)
Ten-man Hearts battled to a point in an engrossing encounter at Easter Road. Hearts had the better of the early stages with Stephen Elliott and Ismael Bouzid both missing good scoring opportunities. Referee Iain Brines also waved away a strong penalty claim from Hearts when Paul Hanlon seemed to trip Elliott in the box. It was no surprise however when Ryan Stevenson drove Hearts ahead after 23 minutes when Hanlonâs clearance fell to him at the edge of the box. Ten minutes later Hearts were reduced to ten men when skipper Marius Zaliukas was shown his sixth red card in Scottish football when he brought down Akpo Sodje and Liam Miller levelled from the resulting spotkick. Victor Palsson missed a golden chance for Hibs early in the second-half but they went ahead when substitutes David Wotherspoon and Ricardo Vaz Te combined for the former Bolton striker to score. Hearts showed great resilience however and levelled three minutes later when Elliott forced home Andy Webster's header to earn a draw.
Motherwell 2 Aberdeen 1
Events on the park were over-shadowed by an amazing touchline bust-up at full-time between Aberdeen boss Craig Brown and Motherwell owner John Boyle. Brown reacted to something said to him by Boyle and attempted to pursue the 'Well owner down the Fir Park tunnel. Brown was spoken to by police after the game and their enquiries will continue. Before that, 'Well deserved their win and edged closer to a top six spot. Chris Humphrey scored his second goal in successive games when he out-paced Stevie Smith to beat Jamie Langfield. Shaun Hutchinson then slotted in their second from Tom Hateley's corner. Nikola Vujadinovic pulled one back in stoppage time but Motherwell hung on for their second victory in four days.
Rangers 2 Dundee United 3
Rangers missed the chance to go top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League when they lost two goals in the final thirteen minutes at Ibrox. Nikica Jelavic headed the opener from El-Hadji Diouf's free-kick but Danny Swanson set up David Robertson for the leveller in the final minute of the first-half. Rangers regained the lead when Steven Naismith blasted in early in the second-half but Johnny Russell headed in Paul Dixon's cross to equalise. Steven Whittaker headed against the bar as Rangers pushed for a late winner but United broke clear and Prince Buaben's through ball saw David Goodwillie advance and slot the ball beyond Allan McGregor for a late winner. Rangers still trail Celtic by two points after the defeat - United's first win at Ibrox in ten visits.
St Johnstone 0 Kilmarnock 0
Managerless Killie clinched their top six place as missed chances once again cost St Johnstone dear. Frazer Wright stopped Collin Samuel scoring in the opening minute and after the break Peter MacDonald hit the bar as St Johnstone pushed for a winner. Missed chances however proved to be the story of the game as new signing Jordan Robertson was also denied before Michael Duberry drove over the bar as the game petered out. William Gros' effort saved by Peter Enckleman was the closest the visitors came to breaking the deadlock.
St Mirren 3 Hamilton Academical 1
Michael Higdon's ten minute hat-trick saw Saints come from behind to move nine points clear of basement club Hamilton. David Buchanan fired the visitors ahead from 25 yards just before the interval but Higdon headed David van Zanten's cross in for the leveller just after the hour. Two minutes later Accies were reduced to ten men when Martin Canning was red-carded for a foul on Paul McGowan and Higdon drove in the penalty. Higdon completed his treble when he converted Craig Dargo's pass and the home side saw the game out comfortably.
