Hearts 3 St Mirren 2
St Mirrenâs late goal jinx struck again as a double sunk them after theyâd twice led at Tynecastle. Michael Higdon had already missed two chances before he headed in Darren McGregorâs pass on the 15 minute mark, but after making two changes at the break â Andy Driver and Scott Robinson replacing Adrian Mrowiec and David Obua - Hearts levelled when Rudi Skacel escaped Jim Goodwin to drive home. Higdon restored Saintsâ lead with a great turn and shot â but sub Ryan Stevenson equalised for Hearts eight minutes from time when he took advantage of St Mirrenâs poor defending and blasted home. Saints have dropped points through a series of late goals this season and it happened again three minutes into stoppage time when Skacel fired in after Robinson knocked on Thomsonâs corner to net Hearts a late winner.
Dundee United 1 Inverness Caledonian Thistle 0
United made it five league wins in succession thanks to Danny Swansonâs goal just before the break. Swanson struck with two minutes of the first-half remaining when he turned the ball in following Scott Robertsonâs knockdown. David Robertson then volleyed over as United tried to find the clinching second goal after the interval and Inverness CTâs Russell Duncan also headed against his own bar before the danger was cleared. Home goalie Dusan Pernis denied the visitors the chance of a draw in the closing stages when he clutched the ball after Grant Munro had headed Richie Foranâs shot towards goal. The win keeps United a point ahead of Kilmarnock in fourth place in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
Hamilton Academical 0 St Johnstone 0
Bottom club Accies remain without a home win in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League after a stalemate at New Douglas Park. Saints' Danny Grainger struck the post with a first-half free-kick after a handball by home skipper Alex Neil before visitorsâ âkeeper Enckelman saved from Accies pair Ali Crawford and Flavio Paixao. Billy Reid's side were the better team but could not make the breakthrough and in the last few minutes their frustration boiled over and Simon Mensing was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Chris Millar.
Kilmarnock 3 Motherwell 1
Mixu Paatelainenâs side opened up an eight-point gap over their Europa League rivals after coming from behind at Rugby Park. John Sutton gave the visitors the lead with his sixth goal in six games when he side-footed home Chris Humphreyâs cross after 14 minutes. Killie got back into the game when Alexei Eremenkoâs cross was headed powerfully in by Manuel Pascali, and Motherwell fell behind when Gavin Gunning was judged to have pushed Pascali in the box and Jamie Hamill scored from the resulting spotkick. Killie went further ahead early in the second-half when âWell âkeeper Darren Randolph was at fault going for Eremenkoâs cross and Liam Kelly headed home. The home side finished strongly and could have added more goals, with Randolph saving well from David Silva and Hamill before the end. Motherwell lost Franny Jeffers with a neck injury in the warm-up and had defender Steven Saunders stretchered off with an ankle injury after eight minutes.
