Motherwell 2 Celtic 0 (Sunday)
John Sutton's double blew the title race open and earned 'Well their first win over Celtic in eleven meetings. The home side tested Fraser Forster in the opening minute when Chris Humphrey was denied by Dan Majstorovic's block tackle after Charlie Mulgrew's mistake. Motherwell grabbed the lead seconds later however as Sutton capitalised on a mix-up between Mulgrew and Forster to stroke home the opener. Celtic had plenty of possession but struggled to test Darren Randolph and Motherwell increased their lead early in the second-half. Shaun Hutchinson's header rebounded from the bar and Celtic didn't clear the danger - and as Motherwell swept forward Emilio Izaguirre was judged to have brought down Keith Lasley and Sutton drove home the penalty. Randolph saved well from Kris Commons' free-kick late on but Motherwell held on and were good value for their win.
Aberdeen 0 Hearts 0
Both sides had to settle for a point in an entertaining but goalless clash at Pittodrie. Hearts manager Jim Jefferies hailed the performance of 'keeper Marian Kello after the game - as the Tynecastle goalie made terrific stops from Sone Aluko, Rory McArdle and Chris Maguire in the first-half and Nick Blackman after the break. Hearts suffered a blow when Andy Webster had to be replaced after half-an-hour with what looked like another setback for the injury-plagued stopper. It was the third game in a row where Aberdeen have failed to score against Hearts at Pittodrie.
Hamilton Academical 1 Dundee United 1
Hamilton were denied their first home Clydesdale Bank Premier League win of the season by United sub Andis Shala's late header. United were guilty of missing first-half chances with David Goodwillie, Johnny Russell and David Robertson all passing up good opportunities - and they were made to pay when Gavin Skelton was fouled by Prince Buaben and Mickael Antoine-Curier scored from the spot. Accies almost doubled their lead when Damian Casalinuovo shot wide however United levelled seven minutes from time when Shala rose to head Craig Conway's cross beyond Tomas Cerny.
Hibernian 2 Inverness Caledonian Thistle 0
Hibs made it four wins in succession to open up a 13-point gap between them and bottom club Hamilton. Victor Palsson had a shot cleared off the line by Russell Duncan but Hibs went in front when Callum Booth took Derek Riordan's pass and drove into the top corner just before the hour. Caley Thistle struggled to hit back although Ross Tokely missed a good chance from Adam Rooney's knockdown. Lewis Stevenson sealed Hibs' win when he took Akpo Sodje's pass and beat Ryan Esson with the aid of a deflection.
Kilmarnock 2 St Mirren 0
William Gros and Alexei Eremenko were the marksmen as Killie bounced back from their defeat at Pittodrie to beat St Mirren. Gros - a graduate of ex-Celt Didier Agathe's football academy - took Eremenko's pass to score the opener after 13 minutes. Gros returned the favour just before the half-hour when he set the Finnish playmaker up for a drive which deceived Paul Gallacher in the Saints goal. Saints substitute Kenny McLean drove against the post as Saints battled hard after the break but they couldn't find a way through the home defence.
Rangers 4 St Johnstone 0 (Sunday)
Rangers romped to a comfortable victory in the 101st league meeting of the sides to close the gap at the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League. Nikica Jelavic opened the scoring with a volley after five minutes and Kyle Lafferty increased the lead from sub Gregg Wylde's corner shortly before the break - the youngster having replaced the injured Vladimir Weiss. Sasa Papac made it 3-0 after a one-two with Jelavic before the Croat added a fourth in stoppage time from Wylde's cross. Rangers are now five points behind Celtic at the top of the table but have two games in hand. An unhappy day for Saints was compounded with defender Michael Duberry being forced off through injury.
