Motherwell 0 St Mirren 1
Motherwell missed the chance to go fourth - but Saints took a giant step towards Clydesdale Bank Premier League safety. Michael Higdon was their hero taking advantage of poor home marking two minutes after coming on as substitute to lash home a left-foot drive after 81 minutes. In a poor first-half, Tom Hateley saw a free-kick saved and John Sutton headed Jamie Murphy's cross over the top. Things improved after the break however but neither side looked likely to break the stalemate until Higdon struck. Substitute Esteban Casagolda headed over and Sutton saw a drive blocked by Darren McGregor but Motherwell couldn't find a way through and failed to make it three wins in succession.
