Celtic 3 Rangers 0 (Sunday)
Celtic recorded an Old Firm victory thanks to Gary Hooper's first-half double. Celtic went ahead when Hooper's clever first touch took him past David Weir before beating Allan McGregor with a low drive. Hooper added a second for rampant Celtic ten minutes later when he turned in Emilio Izaguirre's cross with Rangers claiming in vain for an offside flag. Rangers lost Steven Naismith to injury just before the interval and the one-way traffic continued after the break with Sasa Papac forced to clear Scott Brown's header off the line after McGregor misjudged Georgios Samaras' cross. The Rangers 'keeper also looked at fault when Commons side-stepped Madjid Bougherra to drive in the third after 69 minutes - his third goal for Celtic in five games since moving north. Sub Ki Sung-Yeung tested McGregor again before the end as Celtic moved eight points ahead of Rangers - albeit having played two games more than their title rivals.
Aberdeen 5 Kilmarnock 0
Aberdeen romped to their biggest win of the season to open up a 12-point gap between them and Hamilton and surely end their relegation worries. Scott Vernon drove in the opener after his first effort from Ryan Jack's pass was blocked. Sone Aluko then added the second after Alexei Eremenko lost possession at the edge of the box. Chris Maguire made it three from the spot after Frazer Wright fouled him on the hour before Rory McArdle added the fourth from Vernon's knockdown, sub Josh Magennis then took advantage of Garry Hay's slack back-pass to add the fifth with eight minutes left to round off a convincing win for Aberdeen.
Hearts 2 Dundee United 1
All the drama came late on as Hearts moved to within two points of second-placed Rangers. United went into an early lead when Eggert Jonsson deflected David Goodwillie's cross into his own net as he and Barry Douglas challenged for the cross. Hearts levelled however when Rudi Skacel turned the ball in after Dusan Pernis spilled Ian Black's drive. Zaliukas then headed Hearts ahead two minutes from time from Craig Thomson's corner, Ruben Palazuelos was then red-carded for flooring David Robertson but Goodwillie's penalty was saved by the diving Marian Kello.
Inverness Caledonian Thistle 2 St Johnstone 0
Caley Thistle grabbed their first Clydesdale Bank Premier League win in three months thanks to goals from Ross Tokely and Russell Duncan. Tokely bulleted in a header from Aaron Doran's cross to put his side in front and Duncan added a second just after the hour from Adam Rooney's low cross. Saints had chances late on and sub Arvydas Novikovas forced a save from Ryan Esson but Inverness CT held out.
Motherwell 1 Hamilton Academical 0
Motherwell won their first Lanarkshire derby in four attempts thanks to John Sutton's first-half penalty. Hamilton were unhappy at the award - given by ref Crawford Allan following a tug by Martin Canning on Sutton - but the Englishman stayed calm to beat Tomas Cerny to clinch 'Well's second successive win. Cerny also made good saves from Jamie Murphy and Sutton as Motherwell dominated. Accies barely managed a shot at Darren Randolph and remain marooned at the bottom of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League - and there was further bad news for them with Portuguese Marco Paixao out for a month after rupturing a ligament.
St Mirren 0 Hibernian 1 (Sunday)
Francis Dickoh's late goal took Hibs a giant step towards SPL safety. Colin Calderwood's side are now six points ahead of second-bottom St Mirren after three league wins in succession. Dickoh headed in Paul Hanlon's back-header three minutes from time to snatch victory but they'd looked the more enterprising side throughout. Jimmy Scott twice hit the woodwork and Derek Riordan also came close. An early Paul McGowan chance which was closed down by the Hibs defence was the closest a disappointing home outfit came.
