Weekend review

Dundee United 3 Aberdeen 1
Aberdeen were struggling from the start in the north-east derby, losing three goals in the opening nine minutes. David Goodwillie's shot was deflected into the path of Jon Daly who made no mistake for the opener. Dons 'keeper Mark Howard then palmed Craig Conway's corner into his own net for the second and when Paul Hartley brought down Conway, Goodwillie stepped up to score the third from the penalty spot. Scott Vernon pulled one back for Aberdeen following Jerel Ifil's long ball - but by then McGhee had been sent to the stand by ref Mike Tumilty for lashing the ball back into play from his technical area

Celtic 3 Hearts 0
Celtic stayed top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League with a comfortable win over Jim Jefferies' side. James Forrest put Celtic ahead after 28 minutes from a Daryl Murphy cross, Hearts' problems got worse when manager Jefferies was then sent to the stand just before the break. Shaun Maloney doubled Celtic’s lead seconds later when he beat the offside trap and slotted home beyond the onrushing Marian Kello. Paddy McCourt, who replaced debut Celt Anthony Stokes, added the third in the final minute with a solo run and crisp finish.

Hamilton Academical 1 Rangers
Kenny Miller came off the bench to rescue a win for Rangers with a last-minute winner in Saturday's early kick-off. New signing Nikica Jelavic put Rangers in front after six minutes when he headed in Kyle Lafferty's cross. Accies levelled early in the second-half when Marco Paixao's cross was turned past Allan McGregor by Madjid Bougherra. Kenny Miller - on for Lafferty - ran on to fellow sub Lee McCulloch's through ball to lob Tomas Cerny for his sixth goal of the season to win it for Rangers

Hibernian 1 Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1
Adam Rooney wrecked Hibs' hopes of their first home win of the season with a late penalty. Derek Riordan had put the home side in front after eight minutes when he nutmegged David Proctor and beat Ryan Esson - but after that it all went wrong for John Hughes' side. Riordan was brought down in the box after a foul by Proctor but Riordan saw his penalty rebound back off the post. Inverness Caley Thistle made Hibs pay for their missed chances when Steven Thicot brought down sub Danni Sanchez and Rooney scored from the spot to maintain Caley's unbeaten away record. Hibs are now without a win at Easter Road in eight games

Kilmarnock 2 St Mirren 1
New signing Alexei Eremenko was Killie's hero with a second-half Rugby Park winner. James Dayton drove the home side in front with a spectacular strike after 29 minutes but Saints levelled three minutes after the interval when Steven Thomson volleyed in after a long Paul Gallacher kick-out. The loan Finn, Eremenko won it for his side with a beautifully-struck free-kick after 56 minutes.

St Johnstone 0 Motherwell 2
Motherwell grabbed another away win to leave Saints rooted at the bottom of the table. Loan striker Nick Blackman gave Well the perfect start when he blasted in Keith Lasley's pass after three minutes. Motherwell almost added a second through Chris Humphrey but a goal did come six minutes before the break when Jamie Murphy's cross was deflected into his own net by Kevin Rutkiewicz. Saints battled hard after the break - but only a Danny Grainger lunge prevented John Sutton from making it 3-0.
