With a large contingent of SPL talent on show at the World Cup our previous fans poll asked for your opinion on which Clydesdale Bank Premier League star was the best performer at the World Cup.

Despite his country failing to progress from the group stages, Rangers and Algeria central defender Madjid Bougherra topped the poll with 54% of the vote. Bougherra performed at the heart of the Algerian defence and helped his country keep a clean sheet against England, one of the pre tournaments favourites, as well as showcasing his talent in narrow defeats to both USA and Slovenia.

In a well earned second place, Celtic and South Korean star Ki Sung Yeung took 21% of the vote from fans who appreciated his effort in creating two assists for his team and guiding South Korea into the last 16 of the World Cup.

In third spot energetic Rangers and USA midfielder Maurice Edu had 15% of the vote, and following a disappointing campaign for Greece, Celtic forward Georgios Samaras was last in the poll with 10% of the vote.

With the league campaign now fast approaching our attention turns back towards the SPL and we ask your thoughts on who will be crowned champions at the end of the season.

Can Rangers push on and claim glory for three in a row in a perfect send off for Walter Smith? Will a resurgent Celtic under Neil Lennon steal the crown? Or is this the season when an outsider breaks in and ends the Old Firm’s dominance? Have your say by visiting the Competitions section of the site now.
