Hamilton 4 â 1 Hibernian
Hibs' woes continued as Accies notched up their record SPL win in a New Douglas Park romp. Simon Mensing fired the home team ahead from a twice-taken penalty when Flavio Paixao's drive was handled by Darren McCormack but Colin Nish levelled when he headed home McCormack's cross. The second half was all Accies and they went ahead with another Mensing penalty, this one for a foul by Ian Murray on Dougie Imrie. Joel Thomas, who'd come on as a sub for Mickael Antoine-Curier, blasted in the third â his first Accies goal â then he added the fourth from James Wesolowski's pass. Hibs' misery was complete when Tomas Cerny saved Kevin McBride's penalty, awarded after a foul by Martin Canning on John Rankin.
Falkirk 2 â 1 St Mirren
Falkirk are level on points with Saints at the bottom after what may prove a crucial win. Steven Pressley's side went ahead in the second minute of first-half stoppage time when they were awarded a free-kick for a foul by John Potter on Pedro Moutinho. Saints were unhappy about the award and even more upset when Moutinho curled the ball over the wall and into the net. Falkirk went further ahead when Moutinho's long free-kick took a nick off Darren Barr to leave Paul Gallacher flat-footed after 67 minutes. And although Andy Dorman pulled one back from Chris Innes' pass in the final minute, it wasn't enough and Saints go into the split on the back of a wretched run of results.
Hearts 1 â 0 Kilmarnock
Hearts clinched a top six spot thanks to Suso Santana's first-half strike. The Spaniard drove home when Eggert Jonsson's drive was blocked and Kilmarnock seldom looked like finding a way back into the game. Although Jamie MacDonald saved from Manuel Pascali, Hearts came closest to adding to their lead after the break with Christian Nade, Santana and sub David Templeton all having chances.
Aberdeen 1 â 3 St Johnstone (Sun)
Aberdeen's miserable run continued as they were comfortably beaten at home by St Johnstone. Mark McGhee's side have now won only one of their last 15 games â and slumped again despite going in front through Darren Mackie, who scored from Paul Marshall's pass. Kenny Deuchar headed the equaliser from Liam Craig's cross and when Zander Diamond miscued a diving header, Jody Morris set Cillian Sheridan up to put Saints in front. And they wrapped it up when Jamie Langfield parried a Deuchar header to Sheridan, who volleyed home after 65 minutes. The defeat leaves Aberdeen only six points ahead of the bottom pair of Falkirk and St Mirren in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
