Midweek review

St Johnstone 4 – 1 Rangers
The Champions crashed to their heaviest defeat of the season against Derek McInnes' flying Saints.  Cillian Sheridan lashed in the opener off the post from a tight angle and Chris Millar fired in the second with a drive which took a deflection off Davie Weir.  Stunned Rangers pulled one back through defender Sasa Papac's drive but Saints restored their two-goal advantage before the interval when Liam Craig's header deflected in off Lee McCulloch.  Rangers - with subs Kyle Lafferty and Maurice Edu on at the interval - fared better after the break but couldn't reduce the deficit and it was a home sub, Murray Davidson, who slid in the fourth from Michael Duberry's knockdown to round off a stunning win.  The result means Rangers remain ten points ahead at the top but Saints have closed the gap on Hearts in the chase for a top six place to just two points.
