Weekend review - week 32

Aberdeen 2 – 1 St Mirren
Aberdeen finally ended their winless streak – but they finished hanging on with ten men.  Fraser Fyvie's corner was forced in by Zander Diamond after his first header was parried by Paul Gallacher, then Mark McGhee's side increased their lead when Sone Aluko's shot deflected off Jack Ross and spun in.  Saints pulled one back through Steven Robb and the Dons finished with ten men when Steven MacLean was sent off for a second bookable offence late on.

Celtic 3 – 1 Kilmarnock
Celtic got the Neil Lennon regime off to a winning start with a comfortable win over struggling Killie.  Stand-in boss Lennon looked on as Robbie Keane gave his side the lead with a terrific twist in the box and classy finish.  Keane added a second when he side-stepped Scott Severin and fired home, then Scott Brown side-footed the third from Aiden McGeady's cross.  Craig Bryson pulled one back for Kilmarnock with a cross which deceived Artur Boruc but they were well beaten and stay four points ahead of Falkirk at the bottom.

Dundee United 3 – 0 Motherwell
Ten-man United romped to victory and stretched their lead over 'Well to four points.  Paul Dixon was shown a straight red by ref Willie Collum for a foul on Jim O'Brien after 16 minutes but the home side went ahead when David Goodwillie poked in Andy Webster's header.  Prince Buaben took advantage of John Ruddy's poor touch to score United's second before the break and Craig Conway and Goodwillie set up Danny Swanson for a fine finish for United's third.

Falkirk 1 – 3 Hibernian
Hibs started slowly but still went in at the interval two goals to the good and vaulted Motherwell into fourth spot.  Mark Stewart fired the home side in front at the end of a terrific run but Derek Riordan equalised almost immediately from a free-kick.  Anthony Stokes fired in his 19th of the season after Colin Nish's effort was blocked and Sol Bamba made it 3-1 after Robert Olejnik saved from Nish.  Falkirk battled well in the second-half but couldn't reduce the leeway and are looking increasingly detached at the bottom of the table.

Hamilton 1 – 0 St Johnstone

Accies virtually ensured their Clydesdale Bank Premier League safety thanks to James Wesolowski's first-half goal.  The Aussie fired home from Simon Mensing's pass two minutes before the break and Saints never looked like battling back to earn a point after the interval.  Home midfielder James McArthur came closest to adding to the scoreline with a long-range drive which went just over.

Hearts 1 – 4 Rangers

Rangers romped to a comfortable win against a shell-shocked home side at Tynecastle. Danny Wilson headed the opener from Kevin Thomson's cross and although Suso Santana took advantage of Sasa Papac's hesitation to level, Rangers stepped up the pace. Miller headed the second after Steven Naismith's drive rebounded from the bar then Naismith himself stabbed in the third from Whittaker's pass. Naismith headed Davis' free-kick in to wrap up a great win for the league leaders.
