Hearts 2 – 1 Hibernian
Hibs' misery continued as they were well beaten by Hearts in the Edinburgh derby.  John Hughes' side had to fight back from being two down inside half-an-hour and never looked like rescuing a point.  Surprise pick Andrew Driver opened the scoring when he fired home after sub Suso Santana's cross rebounded from the woodwork – and three minutes later they went further in front when Gary Glen twisted to knock the ball home after Eggert Jonsson headed down Driver's corner-kick.  John Rankin's goalline clearance prevented Jonsson making it 3-0 and Ruben Palazuelos should have scored when he mis-kicked wide from a great position.  Hibs tried to improve after the break and finally pulled one back when David Wotherspoon's cross was forced in by Derek Riordan with eleven minutes left - but Hearts dealt comfortably with everything their Capital rivals threw at them to seal a great win.

Aberdeen 2 – 2 Dundee United
Aberdeen have now gone eleven games without a win – but at least they battled back from two down to grab a point.  Jon Daly went past Zander Diamond and Charlie Mulgrew before firing in the opener then he added the second when he headed in Craig Conway's free-kick.  But Diamond pulled one back from a header from Mulgrew's free-kick then Sean Dillon gave away a needless penalty with a shove on Stewart Duff and Michael Paton drove in to make it 2-2 in first-half stoppage time.  Daly was twice denied a hat-trick after the interval but United ended up hanging on for a point.

Celtic 3 – 0 St Johnstone
Three of Celtic's signings scored the goals but it was youngster Paul McGowan who was their star man on his first domestic start.  McGowan played against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League in December and he grabbed this rare first-team opportunity to put in a great display.  Celts went in front against injury-hit Saints when Josh Thompson headed home from Edson Braafheid's free-kick after 16 minutes.  The game was put beyond the visitors when 'keeper Graeme Smith pulled down Marc-Antoine Fortune and Robbie Keane scored from the spot. Sub Georgios Samaras completed the scoring following a solo run down the left flank.

Hamilton 2 – 2 Falkirk
Falkirk closed the gap at the bottom between them and St Mirren to three points with a fighting point at New Douglas Park.  Steven Pressley's side went in front when Scott Arfield scored at the second attempt after Tomas Cerny blocked his first shot.  But Accies levelled when Mickael Antoine-Curier headed in Flavio Paixao's corner-kick, and the home side went in front from a penalty conceded by Brian McLean for a foul on Antoine-Curier.  Simon Mensing scored from the spot but 60 seconds later Bairns levelled when Ryan Flynn drove in after Pedro Moutinho's free-kick.  Falkirk almost nicked all three points late on when Moutinho seemed certain to score only for Martin Canning to clear.
