Weekend review - week 27

Falkirk 3 – 1 Aberdeen
Dons boss Mark McGhee locked his players in the dressing-room for an hour-long inquest after this defeat.  His side had gone in front after five minutes through Charlie Mulgrew's free-kick but Steven Pressley's side were level eight minutes later when Pedro Moutinho converted Enoch Showunmi's cross.  They then went ahead just before the break when skipper Darren Barr headed in Scott Arfield's free-kick and Showumni clinched the points with an acrobatic overhead kick from Liam Flynn's cross to move Falkirk within a point of Hamilton at the bottom.

Celtic 1 – 0 Dundee United

Robbie Keane's first-half goal was the difference between the sides at Parkhead.  Keane ran on to Diomansy Kamara's through ball and beat Dusan Pernis for his third goal in five games since his arrival on loan.  The only frustration for him and Celtic was that they failed to capitalise on possession to win by a more emphatic margin.  Scott Brown and Marc Antoine Fortune saw shots saved before Brown and Keane passed up further scoring opportunities.  A Jon Daly drive saved by Artur Boruc was as close as United came to an equaliser.

Kilmarnock 1 – 1 St. Mirren
Billy Mehmet's first Clydesdale Bank Premier League goal in 17 matches earned Saints a point at Rugby Park, ruining the home side's hopes of winning four league games in succession for the first time ever.  Killie went ahead against the run of play when Chris Maguire scored his third goal in four matches after Paul Gallacher failed to hold Craig Bryson's drive.  But after sub Craig Dargo and Allan Johnston had shots blocked, Mehmet lashed home the leveller with eight minutes left.

Motherwell 1 – 0 Hibernian
'Well are unbeaten in eight Clydesdale Bank Premier League games and took all the points against ten-man Hibs thanks to Jamie Murphy's late goal.  Murphy only made the home line-up when Lukas Jutkiewicz failed a fitness test but he struck with eight minutes to go when his shot from John Sutton's tee-up wrong-footed Hibs 'keeper Graham Stack.  John Hughes' side, who played for almost an hour with ten men after Liam Miller was shown a straight red card for a bad tackle on Jim O'Brien, have now lost three games in a row.

St. Johnstone v Rangers
Saints apologised after this fixture was postponed less than an hour before kick-off. An area of one penalty area was found to be frozen despite undersoil heating having been switched on.

Hearts 2 – 0 Hamilton (Sunday)
Accies were left rueing their inability to score as Hearts edged an even encounter at Tynecastle.  Billy Reid's side were the equals of their hosts but failed to create any real opportunities and once David Obua headed in Ryan Stevenson's cross just after the hour, there looked no way back for the visitors.  On-loan Brian Easton's poor pass-back allowed home sub David Templeton to clinch it with ten minutes left and move Jim Jefferies' side to within four points of fifth-placed Motherwell.
