Motherwell 1 â 3 Hibernian
Motherwell's unbeaten start to the season came to an end with a home defeat against John Hughes' side. Colin Nish put Hibs in front from Derek Riordan's cross after nine minutes but Mark Reynolds headed the equaliser from Jim O'Brien's cross before the break. Hibs exerted their superiority after the interval and Riordan's curler put them in front after 51 minutes before Merouane Zemmama extended their lead four minutes later.
Falkirk 0 â 0 Kilmarnock
Falkirk moved off the bottom of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League after their second successive Saturday goalless draw. Darren Barr almost put them in front early in the second-half but Kevin Kyle cleared his effort off the line, and Kyle almost won it for the visitors only for Robert Olejnik to save his effort late on.
Heart of Midlothian 2 â 1 Hamilton
Hearts had to resist a second-half Accies fight back to take the points at Tynecastle. After a goalless first-half, Michael Stewart put them ahead from the penalty spot after Martin Canning's foul on David Witteveen, then a minute later Suso seemed to have wrapped the game up with a clever backheel. But Accies pulled one back when Marco Paixao scored from Grant Evans' pass and although Accies battled, they couldn't find a leveller.
Rangers 0 â 0 Aberdeen
Rangers slipped behind at the top of the table after their third successive goalless draw. Jamie Langfield made three good saves from Jerome Rothen during a first-half the home side dominated but during which they couldn't find a breakthrough. After the break home sub Kris Boyd twice missed chances and Nacho Novo was denied by the post. Aberdeen's best opportunity came when Gary McDonald's effort was saved by Allan McGregor.
St. Johnstone 2 â 3 Dundee United
Ten-man Dundee United moved up to fourth in the table after they just edged out Saints in a Tayside thriller. Danny Cadamarteri put them in front from the spot after 34 minutes following a handball by Dave Mackay but Darren Dods turned Filipe Morais' cross into his own net to level before the break. After the interval Andy Webster slammed home Lee Wilkie's knock-on only for Martin Hardie to fire home a sensational free-kick equaliser with his first touch after coming on as a substitute. David Goodwillie won it for the visitors from Damian Casalinuovo's pass and although they had Danny Swanson shown a straight red card for a foul on Murray Davidson, they held out to win.
St. Mirren 0 â 2 Celtic
Celtic moved four points clear at the top of the table after a comfortable win at New St Mirren Park against a side who haven't beaten them in the league for 19 years. Celtic dropped defender Gary Caldwell and recalled skipper Stephen McManus to defence. Paddy McCourt put them ahead in the first-half with a great solo run and finish before Shaun Maloney's curler wrapped up the victory with twelve minutes to go.
