Hearts - AEGON Breakfast Club

Hearts - AEGON Breakfast Club

We have  provided funding towards Heart of Midlothian FC Education and Community Trust's Breakfast Club scheme, which provides kids across Edinburgh with a healthy breakfast before school.

The  funding will support a training programme for breakfast club staff - raising staff confidence and competence will go far in encouraging sustainability of the project.

Breakfast clubs are about more than just healthy eating.  They improve attendance and concentration, as well as social skills.  And they help children to get into good eating habits early on in life.

Vulnerable children are offered emotional support and staff and volunteers are there to talk to, and to listen.  One of the main aims is to teach social skills, manners and good citizenship.  Other benefits include improved attendance and better educational performance due to higher concentration and better behaviour.  And as children move up through school and into the workforce, the benefits will be felt throughout the local community.
