Club community activity 2008
Rangers - Rangers Girls Development Programme
According to the Scottish Government (February 2008), physical activity among girls declines sharply as they get older. At age 11-12 only 56 per cent of girls are meeting the national recommendation for physical activity of one hour most days per week. This figure drops to just 41 per cent by the time girls are aged 13-15 year.
We have provided funding to Rangers which will help them develop a programme to address this issue by increasing activity levels at adolescent age, when it tends to drop of as well as getting girls into the âhabit' from 9 years old.
Participants will be recruited from schools throughout Glasgow city, with a view to establishing and sustaining a girls only programme which can feed into the recently formed U17s girls team, eventually developing a player pathway.
