Aberdeen - Clydesdale Bank supports Aberdeen FCâs Mini Kickers programme
In the week that SPL sponsor Clydesdale Bank announced its continued support for the highly popular âMini Kickersâ initiative, Aberdeen players Nick Blackman and Rob Milsom dropped in to the Jesmond Sports Centre to accept a cheque of £5000 from the Clydesdale Bank and meet the latest kids to benefit from the clubâs highly successful programme.
Forming part of Aberdeen FCâs âDons in the Communityâ programme, Mini Kickers offers children aged 3-5 years old what is often their first chance to kick a football in a group environment. With a primary focus on motor skill development, SFA accredited coaches deliver coaching sessions which encourage children to develop their cognitive and social skills through a series of fun activities. Funding from the Clydesdale Bank has allowed for an increase in the number of centres that run the programme which in turn has led to a greater number of children participating in the âMini Kickersâ programme.
Stressing the importance of Clydesdale Bankâs sponsorship to the success of the project, Dons in the Community Head Coach, Scott Anderson said:
âWe would again like to thank Clydesdale Bank for their continued sponsorship of AFCâs Mini Kickers. Their support has allowed us to continue to upgrade the specialist equipment we use which makes the sessions so enjoyable for the youngsters taking their first steps on the footballing pathway. The centres within Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire continue to be vibrant and provide a fun and stimulating learning environment for the children. â
Steve Paterson, Clydesdale Bank Community Affairs Manager commented on the support for this community initiative:
âThis is Clydesdale Bankâs fourth year as SPL sponsor and over that time we have witnessed the range of excellent work that each club does to make a positive impact in its local community. As a business we too aim to develop strong relationships that support local communities, so we are delighted to be able to help Aberdeen FC by providing some additional funding to their âMini Kickersâ programme.â
