Clydesdale Bank Community Award

Andrew Somerville is the latest winner of the Clydesdale Bank Community Award.  Andy runs the Loanhead Miners Welfare Under 11s team, and was nominated for the award by the mother of one of the kids he coaches, Susan Galligan.

Andrew is a planner for S&N and has four children himself, but he still spends a lot of his spare time concentrating on the team.

Andrew has a great relationship with the kids, and is always full of encouragement.  He organises fund raising events and set up a website for the kids to keep track of fixtures and results.

Having previously lived in Aberdeen, Andrew follows Aberdeen FC, and so was presented with his award pre-match at the Aberdeen v Motherwell match by the 'Don's Scott Severin.

Andy said: "It's fantastic to receive this reward, especially as it came as a result of a nomination from one of the parents.  Working at the grass roots level of football is, in my opinion, about as hard as it gets so it's nice when your hard work doesn't go unnoticed.  There are so many good people working in community football around Scotland and it's important that we recognise their contribution to the game.  Put simply, without them there wouldn't be any football!"
