Clydesdale Bank Community Award

Martin Cox from Arbroath has been announced as the latest winner of the Clydesdale Bank Community Award.

Martin, a teacher at Monifieth High School, has been involved with StMurdoch's Boys Club in Arbroath for about 10 years.  The club play in theDundee Sunday Boys League and as well as coaching, Martin set up andruns the St Murdoch's goalkeeping school.

Through teaching Martin has also been involved in a number of schoolfootball projects.  He ran the New Community Soccer camps at HaysheadPrimary School and Arbroath Academy, and currently looks after theMonifieth High School Under 15s school squad.  Last year he won twotournaments with the school.

Martin started coaching in 1998 at the Jim McLean School of Excellenceat Gussie Park under John Holt.  He also worked as Youth Coach withArbroath Football Club for 3 years with the under 12/13s.

Martin was nominated for this award by Stewart Cassidy, who is also ateacher.  Stewart felt that the time and effort that Martin has putinto kids football in the area over the years deserved recognition.

Martin, a Dundee United fan, was presented with his award before theDundee United v Hibernian game at Tannadice on Wednesday 12th Octoberby midfielder Greg Cameron.

Martin said:  "The experience of working with some extremely talentedyoung people and coaches has been excellent. Sometimes it counts forlittle without the support and encouragement of others, and it is withimmense pride that I accept the Clydesdale Bank Community Award onbehalf of all those I've worked with."
