Clydesdale Bank Community Award Winner
Scott Earley of Easthall, Easterhouse, has been announced as the latest winner of the Clydesdale Bank Community Award.
Scott coaches Easthall Football Club Under 13s and was nominated for the award by Easthall FC Manager Andrew Gilbert.
WhileAndrew deals with the managerial duties of running Easthall FC, hecharges Scott with running the football side of the club, workingspecifically with Easthall's under 13 side. Scott invests virtuallyall of his spare time in the coaching and development of the under 13s,giving all the boys involved in the team the chance to develop theirgame and benefit from his coaching skills. Scott has been involvedwith the club for three seasons, coaching with around 18 boys eachcampaign.
Easterhouse is an area of Glasgow that is often viewedas territorial and in nominating Scott for the award, Andy Gilbertcited the great success Scott has had in integrating youngsters fromall over Easterhouse into Easthall FC, ensuring the players get to andfrom their football safely and feel a sense of pride in representingthe club.
Andy commented:
"I believe Scott to be anoutstanding young person and feel he deserves recognition for all hishard work and dedication to a worthy cause."
Scott, a lifelongRangers fan, received his award at Murray Park from the Ibrox club'slatest signing, Northern Ireland international Steve Davis, and as partof the prize Clydesdale Bank will also £100 to Easthall FC onScottâs behalf.
On receiving his award Scott commented:
"I'mreally pleased to win this award and would like to thank Andy fornominating me and Libby Brown (Club Secretary) for all her help. Ireally enjoy working with all the boys at Easthall Under 13s, they'reall really into the coaching and the games and theyâve been brilliantto coach over the last few years."
Earlier this year, Scott wasfurther recognised for his voluntary work with Easthall FC when he wasselected as a torchbearer for part of the Olympic Torch relay in Londonin April. Scott received the torch from Team GB Paralympian Ali Jawadbefore handing over to England cricket captain Kevin Peitersen.
