Celtic Manager Tony Mowbray has been named Clydesdale Bank Premier League Manager of the Month for September.
Tony Mowbray has had an impressive start to life as Celtic manager since returning to the SPL following a spell in charge of West Bromwich Albion. His new look Celtic side took maximum points from their opening three Clydesdale Bank Premier League fixtures in September, including difficult away trips to Aberdeen and Hibs. Celtic ended the month tied with close rivals Rangers at the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
Dundee United forward Danny Cadamarteri has been named Clydesdale Bank Premier League Player of the Month for September.
A product of the Everton youth system Danny played for a total of eight clubs south of the border before joining Dundee United in the summer under freedom of contract. Danny appears to be relishing the fresh challenge of SPL football capping his excellent performances in Septemberwith three goals, including a double on his Clydesdale Bank Premier League debut against Hearts.
Motherwell midfielder Ross Forbes has been named Clydesdale Bank Young Player of the Month for September.
A product of the Motherwell youth system, Ross spent much of last season with the reserves before heading out on loan to Dumbarton where he won a league medal and some invaluable first-team experience. Having returned to Fir Park this summer, Forbes has re-paid the faith of new manager Jim Gannon starring in each of Motherwell’s three league matches during September, scoring twice, to earn him the award of Clydesdale Bank Premier League Young Player of the Month.
Rangers Manager Walter Smith has been named CB Manager of the Month for August.
An impressive month for the club saw Rangers go joint top of the table, setting the early pace in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League. Walter Smith guided his team to an impressive 3-0 away victory over Hibernian as well as gaining hard fought victories against both Kilmarnock and St. Johnstone. Smith will be hoping his team can continue this form as he chases a third successive Clydesdale Bank Premier League title.
Rangers’ Kenny Miller has been named CB Player of the Month for August.
Throughout August striker Kenny Miller has been vital for Rangers, scoring five goals in three SPL games, including a hat trick in the game at Easter Road and a late winner against St. Johnstone. Miller’s five goals made him the SPL’s top goalscorer for the month, and the voting panel picked him out as Clydesdale Bank Player of the Month.
Celtic midfielder Jaes Forrest has been named Clydesdale Bank Young Player of the Month for August.
The 19-year-old is a product of the Celtic youth system and has made quite an impression throughout the month. Despite Neil Lennon signing a vast array of players throughout the summer, Forrest has stood out as one of the club’s star performers. Forrest featured in Celtic’s opening three SPL games guiding the club to victories in each. He capped off his impressive month by scoring and winning the man of the match award during Celtic’s 4-0 win over St Mirren. Forrest’s impressive form over the month has also helped steer Celtic to the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
Rangers Manager Walter Smith has been named CB Premier League Manager of the Month for March. Wins over Aberdeen, Celtic and Hibernian saw Walter Smith’s side take maximum league points for the month. Rangers also defeated Dundee United to win the CIS Insurance Cup and progressed to the UEFA Cup quarter finals with an aggregate victory over Werder Bremen.
This is the third Manager of the Month award for Walter Smith, having previously won in August and January.
Falkirk defender Darren Barr has been named Clydesdale Bank Premier League Player of the Month for March. Darren, 23, had a fantastic month at the heart of the Falkirk defence, playing in all four league games and helping the club to record a clean sheet in each match.
Darren, appointed club captain in January, has played a major part in Falkirk’s undefeated month which has left them on the brink of clinching a top six place in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League, a first for the club.
Dundee United defender Garry Kenneth has been named Clydesdale Bank Young Player of the Month for March.
Garry had an excellent month at the heart of the Dundee United defence, helping his side to record three clean sheets in their four league games whilst maintaining their challenge for a UEFA Cup spot. Gary’s performances were central to Dundee United’s victories over Motherwell and Gretna in the month and also the hard earned point in the goalless draw against Celtic.
John Bonar from Dundee took part in the voting here at cbfootball and was our lucky winner who got to present the award to Garry. John came along to Tannadice for the presentation and listened into Garry and the Manager’s press conferences. He said:
“This was fantastic, a great surprise. It was really interesting to hear what the Manager and Player had to say, as you only get a small clip on TV. To see it actually happen was great. I voted for Garry as he’s definitely improved this season, and really deserves the recognition.”
